For Robin and Ed Rofi, it all began in 1983, when their son Chris fell ill with a rare and debilitating form of epilepsy. Over the following years, they would watch Chris become totally disabled and dependent on life support systems and the constant vigil of round-the-clock nurses at home.

They came to trust, respect and often love the nursing caregivers who kept Chris alive. Ed and Robin were continually filled with hope. Then, Robin’s 91-year-old father, Howard, came to spend his final years with them. He was in relatively good health, but with the challenges of his advancing age, they discovered a new caregiver dimension…non-medical companion care.

As they saw Howard do well in a warm family environment, with the assistance of his caregiver, it became obvious to Robin and Ed that other older Americans would also prefer the dignity and comfort of remaining at home supported by a companion to handle the tasks now too difficult to perform alone.

And so, in 2004, Angel Companions of Pa. was born, with the help of their nephew, Mark, and quickly became a great success in suburban Philadelphia. In 2006, the Rofis’ long-time friend, Phil Caltabiano, and his brother-in-law, Bill Harris, launched Angel Companions of Georgia. And so the story continues, as residents of Atlanta are now able to get compassionate and affordable companion care for their loved ones - in the place they prefer to live.
